Reading this made me very happy. The dam is 850m long, about 40 years old, and visible from space. How amazing is that?! In 10 years it could join up with another two dams to make a mega-dam. Fascinating. Biggest beaver dam visible from space. (SMH, 6 May 2010)

I think perhaps a bat has taken up residence in a tree nearby. An unearthly squeak-like-quacking and the thick flapping of wings can be heard most nights. There only seems to be one of these creatures. I wonder what it is …

Yesterday, I noticed that the gardenia out on the balcony has miraculously survived both the winter and my neglect and is covered in tiny buds. That makes me very happy.

The first railway freesia was spotted yesterday. That’s how I usually mark the arrival of Spring. There are the bright yellow wattles of course, and later the delicate pink blossom trees. But for me, it’s the creamy fragrant railway freesia. I love this time of year. Pregnant with hope and possibilities. *sigh*
